What’s the difference?

An inspiration can come from anywhere or anything. Inspiration provides the impetus, or motivation to create.  Inspiration is that feeling, “I’ve got to do this, try this, write this, cook this.”

A muse on the other hand… a muse is narrower and more specific.  A muse could be someone you know personally, or a stranger.  My dog Muttley, (long gone but not forgotten), could be said to be a muse for me.  A muse is anyone who fires your imagination off to a new direction. 

The inspiration gives the energy.  The muse gives the focus.
