For me, one of the hardest things about creating these comics pages is starting the pages.  That blank piece of paper.   I always know exactly what I want the finished page to look like.  It is just that the blank page is so far from finished.  It is intimidating.

There is a cure though.  And that is to start.  Favourite pencils, favourite erasures (I have plenty of those) and just start. 

I mentioned Lynda Barry in last week’s post –she believes that creativity comes from your hand up, not the mind down.  She is right. Sometimes it is just the movement of the pencil on the paper, the first few shapes and then it is not a blank piece of paper anymore… it’s a new page.
