Character Development

BELLAThere is a profound difference between inspiration and reality.  So far, it has been my experience that when the creative process takes over, reality takes a hike.

I’ve made it no secret that the original germ of inspiration for this comic strip came from my observations of myself and my sisters.  Three unique individuals, each having extremely different talents and life circumstances.  The thing is, as I wrote the stories, and drew the scenes, each comic character took on a life of her own.  I wouldn’t have it any other way.

The important thing is, (in my limited creative experience) is to let the reality in the story take that hike.  Allow the story to take it’s own shape, and permit the characters to impose their own will on how they want to be developed.  As a writer, I recommend getting out of the way.

If I stuck to the script of how each of us would respond in real life, well then this would be a drama, not a comedy.

Thanks for reading; and if you are enjoying this blog and the comic strip, please share it forward.
