Once we get more than a few years under our belts, it is tempting to look back at life and consider what we would do differently, if we had it all to do over again.  It seems to be a classic question.

The irony is, if you have not learned anything in your years of experience, you will make the same mistakes –all over again.   We have all watched friends (or ourselves) go through a painful divorce and then go marry the exact same person, only with different hair…

Ideally, and since this is all just fantasy we can make it ideal, you want to go back as the person you have become.  If there has been genuine understanding of your own role in your mistakes, then, when you go back to ‘do it all over again’ your changed person will bring about a different outcome. 

You will make a new mistake rather than the same one over again.
