Stuck in Traffic?  Choose Traffic.

220px-Prizewinnerohioposter1It really does not matter what the source of your frustration is, being frustrated takes an incredible amount of energy.  Frustration rarely ever helps to solve the source of frustration.

There is a charming little indie movie with Julianne Moore and Woody Harrelson,  The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio (2005).  My favourite scene is when Julianne Moore’s character, a stressed Mom of ten with an unsupportive husband, gets to spend a rare day away with other ‘prize winners’.  Her eldest daughter drives her to the event but the car breaks down on the way.  The repair takes up most of the day and Julianne Moore misses out on her gathering.  The daughter is astounded at the serenity and acceptance that her mother shows when her day is ruined.  To paraphrase, the Mom’s answer, “Well here I am with you.  I wouldn’t have had this much time alone with you under any other circumstances.”

That is called making the best of things, or just going with the flow.

When you are stuck in traffic, choose traffic.

Frustration is futile.
