Adjustments

Adjustments

Adjusting to living by myself during lockdown has had a few challenges. Overall, it has not been so very terrible. My own company is not too shabby.

To stay grounded, I have established a series of weekly routines. After years of being on the Monday to Friday carousel, I have embedded my chores and projects into the familiar five days on, two days off schedule. (Truth be told, sometimes three days off.) I houseclean on Mondays just to give me a reason to continue to dislike that particular day. Feels like normal.

Since Christmas, every Saturday night I have been ordering a curb-side dinner pickup. But here is the catch; the times I most miss having someone else around is when there is food on the table. Tasting a new dish provides me with an amusing distraction. With friends and family present, it becomes an experience.

Isn’t that what we’ve all been missing during these times? Where I live we are now in the orange category. Last night, picking up my dinner, the restaurant was busy. They were behind getting my order out and I didn’t mind one bit. It was great to see a bustling restaurant again.

They say change is the only constant. Adapting, adjusting and readjusting to change, well, that’s just life.

Stay safe everyone.
