And Then One Day They are Artists
All kids draw. Most stop. The reasons why they stop may vary, but the common understanding is that they realize that what they are drawing does not look like the real thing.
I mentioned in last week’s blog that a lot of comic and graphic artists are young –or at least younger than I am. I am coming to the conclusion that age is irrelevant –the big difference is that most other comic and graphic artists have spent their whole life drawing. They never put their pen down. They continued to look and practice and sketch and draw.
And then one day they are artists.
I attended the opening reception for the Ting Comic and Graphic Arts festival at the Arts Project. There were artists and fans and readers and arts supporters representing all age groups. Just a mixed bag of people in general. Isn’t that what art and appreciation of arts is?
