What’s Your Blog About?
An ‘elevator pitch’ is a carefully crafted speech that sales people design specifically to inflate curiosity and inspire business. When someone asks me, “What is your blog about?”, I should have a ready-made answer. Alas, I do not.
Although I talk often about creativity and inspiration, the blog is about my experiences and observations. Seth Godin, in his blog, recommended using Wordclouds.com to identify common themes in any text, speech, or story. I like it. It’s full of my favourite words. It confirms for me that I do not want to restrict my topic choices to a specific theme. I like ranging all over from personal stories to creativity, to writing, dating, family, health, and of course, my opinions. (There’s no escaping those.)
The WordPress stats pages tell me that the most popular posts are those with the most personal content, such as the cancer series, or my online dating ventures. If I had to pick a theme beyond creativity I seem to frequently write about relationships.
My elevator pitch so far? “I explore how our lives are enriched through creativity and positive relationships”.
Needs a bit of work, yes.
Next week’s post will be the last before I take my summer hiatus. This time of year I always worry that I won’t get enough of summer; there won’t be enough swimming, barbecues, picnics, or warm nights on a patio. And then, every year, by the end of September I look back over the summer and feel satisfied with how much I took in.
Keep your joy.

It is all about our relationships to me. It always come back to how are connected. I was struck by this most recently when an obit was sent to me of a student I taught in Gr 4. It was so beautifully written and simple about her life experiences. And then there my name was as a favourite teacher. It touched my heart to know that I had made a difference in her life. I met her daughter who is 13 and now living with her Grandmother and Grandfather ready to start Gr 8 after being home schooled by her Mom now gone. I want to continue to be a part of her life ❤️
That is a lovely way to be remembered. Thank you for sharing this.
