Summertime Creations
Summertime, and the living is easy. It is time to relax — vacations, sunshine, excursions, swimming, picnics… what’s not to love? If summer is your favourite season and you live in Canada it seems shorter than a nano second.
I’ve always loved summer and for that reason I sign off for the season. In all honesty, I enjoy the break. Not because of the writing — that’s the easy part. The challenge is coming up with the idea, the topic, or the theme every week. When I am writing an ongoing series such as the Cancer Story, or Online Dating, the words flow and writing becomes a very enjoyable experience. Funnily enough, those are the posts that attract the highest readership.
Creating can sometimes be exasperating but in the moments when inspiration flows… the thrill makes the struggles worthwhile. It’s absolutely energizing. And that is where I want to take this blog.
In the fall I will mix up these posts with fictional stories. The more I experiment and create scenes and episodes, I find I want to share what I’ve written. Some of you have been following this blog since the days of my comic web series, Contentment is for Cows. This blog was originally started as a companion page for the weekly instalments.
As for those comics, I have created an Instagram account for Contentment is for Cows. I will be posting the original series, warts and all. Yes, Bella and crew are returning to public view. (…There is nothing posted as of yet. I need to reconfigure the sizing and enjoy other technological frustrations.)
Next weekend is a family wedding I’ve been looking forward to and it seems a logical stopping point for my summer break. I wish you all an easy livin’ summer experience; I’ll return after Labour Day with new inspirations and creations.
