Your Dad Before You
It is a challenge for most people to picture who their parents were when they were young. In those years of being — ‘BC’ — ‘Before Children’; before careers, mortgages, and the gravity of adulthood.
Who was your Dad before he was your Dad? Whom did he crush on in high school? Was he a good student or a slacker? Who was he when he still had a head full of hair? Was he full of the confidence of youth or the insecurity of youth?
Give your Dad the gift of a trip down memory lane. Break out the ‘BC’ pictures, the ‘Dad’ music, the yearbooks. Let him tell his stories, even if you’ve heard them all before.
And if your Dad is no longer with us, tell your kids who you were ‘BC’. Tell them something they might not know about you because they only know you as ‘Dad’.
Just a suggestion.
Stay safe everyone.
Great idea Anne. A good day to remember and celebrate the stories❣️
Hello, and thank you. The inspiration for this blog was how grateful I am to have my Mother’s diaries of when she was a young girl, a teenager, and a young woman.
Good idea Anne
I have a bit of an idea of who my father was when he was young through my Mother’s diaries. Your Father didn’t earn much mention. He would have been too young to interest her. Jack however…
