Keeping it Raw
Just so you know, there is no photoshopping going on here, these pages are scanned directly onto the web site without any alterations. I could use photoshop to tidy up the page edges, or fix little bits of drawing, but when it comes right down to it, I don’t want to.
I have had suggestions that to save time, I could ‘paste’ in the dialogue bubbles and use a ‘comics’ font. There are also the new drawing pads –save time without ever needing to use an erasure again… or use a ‘colouring program’ and never have to paint again. But the thing is, I don’t want to use photoshop, or type the dialogue bubbles. Time management can go pound salt.
I taught myself how to draw so I could create the comic strip I had written and in the process I discovered how much I like to draw; I also like the lettering process, and I especially like the painting part.
Ultimately, creating these pages and story has to be about what I enjoy doing — I might still struggle with the blank page, and sure, I could be accused of having a codependent relationship with my erasure, but I like it… So I intend to keep it raw.
Six new pages posted today, in the raw… www.contentmentisforcows.com
Enjoy! (and pass it on if you like…)
